William’s last days in the Army

William was declared unfit to fly with the R.F.C. and he was sent to the 2nd Bn. K.O.R.L.R. at Dovercourt, Harwich on 3rd February 1919. Parts of the regiment were also transferred to Ireland in 1919 in response to the Irish War of Independence of 1919 -1921. This war to free Ireland from British control, resulted in about 2300 lives lost, including 900 civilian lives.
